Relative clauses
who, which, that, whose, where, when; defining va non-defining, vergul qoidasi.
Nisbiy olmoshlar
- who — odam: the girl who won;
- which — narsa, hayvon: the book which I read;
- that — odam va narsa (faqat defining);
- whose — egalik: the man whose car was stolen;
- where — joy, when — vaqt: the town where I was born.
Defining va non-defining
Defining — qaysi biri ekanini aniqlaydi, vergulsiz: Students who study hard pass. Olmosh to‘ldiruvchi bo‘lsa tushirib qoldirilishi mumkin: the book (that) I bought.
Non-defining — qo‘shimcha ma’lumot, vergul bilan, that ishlatilmaydi va olmosh tushmaydi: My brother, who lives in London, is a doctor.
Butun gapga ishora: He passed the exam, which surprised everyone.
Qisqartirish
The man standing there is my uncle (= who is standing). The house built in 1900 is a museum (= which was built).
